ABOUT THE ZINE
“The most boring story that I could write” is a four part zine that enters the feelings attached to the process of becoming a woman. The journey reflects the ups and downs involved in getting to know yourself. The story chases thoughts and feelings whilst including the ever so common dialogue of lost and found love.
Carla Uriarte was born in the Phillipines, grew up in San Francisco, became a woman in Spain And now comfortably resides in Sydney, Australia. Her nomadic nature plays an important role in her art as being under the mesh of different cultures inspires her to see perspective in all directions. Carla’s work also reflects intensely on swimming inside ones soul and spreads an overall message which is: It’s ok to feel the things you feel. FEEL THE FEELS. FEEL THE FUEL OF THE FEELINGS OF THE SOUL BEBE.
WHY DID YOU START MAKING ZINES?
Creating this zine allowed me to gather my thoughts in a constructive manner and pushed me to understand my journey while having the platform to share it publicly. As an artist, I think it is important to help people feel less alone and to note that at times we all struggle within our minds and it’s ok to be sad at times in fact its almost just as important as being happy.
WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE OF THE COMMUNITY?
I actually have zero experience with my local zine community but am interested and would like to know more / be more involved which is why I have decided to try to submit.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE?
Just do it. Don’t think. Push forward.
